Nordic film days winners 2009The winner announced In Saturday’s afternoon of 24th of October during the Closing ceremony the decision of Media Jury of 10th Riga’s Nordic Film Days was announced and the winner awarded with the symbolic NorthernTable, which became incarnated into a chamomile ornamented cup. Film Days’ jury - satori.lv journalist Irbe Treile, DJ of Radio SWH Toms Grevins and magazine’s Klubs chief editor Juris Sleiers decided Icelandic director Valdís Óskarsdóttir’s exciting comedy Country Wedding to be the Best film. It is a peculiar road movie revolving around two busloads of Icelanders attending a wedding in a small church in the countryside, an hour’s drive from Reykjavik. Directions given by priest are not so simple after all, and the trip turns into much more than just a run around Iceland’s picturesque vastness. The X Nordic film days were held from 16th to 24th of October and featured 14 films from Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. The next NFD will be organised from 14th to 23th of October 2011. Picture from Nordic film days Closing ceremony 2009
